Plymouth Area News for the week of September 24th, 2018 by Joyce Steiner

The church council of Living Faith United Methodist Church met on Monday evening.  Our group was small.  We worked on reports for charge conference which will be held at the church in October.

Started loading the caravan for 3rd Sunday market on Tuesday and got it mostly done on Wednesday.  Then just added a few things the rest of the week.  I have a great booth by the restaurant and rest rooms at the Market so we see everyone.  Had a good show and will miss doing the October show.  I do Spoon River the first two weekends of October and this year the Collectors of Illinois Stoneware and Pottery convention hits the 3rd weekend.  That means quite a lot of us will not be able to do 3rd Sunday.  Sigh..

Wednesday evening was the  Adams Telephone annual meeting.  If you attend, you learn a lot about the  Adams Cooperative.  You also get a nice pork chop meal and this year one got a $25 credit on their bill.  There is also a drawing for prizes, the biggest is $1000 and second prize is $500.  I am sure Ralph and Carolyn Frakes wish they had stayed for the meeting because their name was drawn for second prize but one has to be present to win.  Dylan and Kayla McCurdy rode along to the meeting with me.  Was a nice evening.

One of my neighbors was considering getting rid of Dish so I gave her a channel line up from Adams Fiber.  I think it is a reasonable alternative to Dish or any other TV system.

Thursday ran to Macomb to eat and get groceries for the weekend.  Was supposed to look at some antiques too but the lady was watching a movie and did not hear her phone while I was parked at her home.  As Sullivan and Son Auction has closed, am buying more from individuals.

Our weather was lovely this week and I am surely glad that I do not live on the East Coast.  The storm looked awful.  I can not even or do I not want to imagine 40 inches of rain.  All our basements would be flooded and our crops ruined.  I think that each year, I love Illinois more.  When I watch the hate political ads with the lady threatening to move out of Illinois, I just want to help her pack!  Of course we have the chance of a tornado, but that is better than the 100 plus temperatures of the Southwest, the forest fires of the West Coast, the hurricanes of the southeastern US, the snows of Maine and the North.  Think you get the picture.  Sure we have a lot of former governors in prison, guess there has to be a down side to everywhere!

My niece, Marcella Hardin, helps me at 3rd Sunday Market.  We got set up in good time on Saturday and we think we may have set a record for breakdown today.  Got home almost before dark and my kitties were very glad to see me.

Will remind everyone that the Community Center owned by the Plymouth Business Association is for sale.    If you or you know someone interested in a two story brick building with over 8000 square feet of usable space, let me know.  It could have so many uses.  It is such an important building for Plymouth that I have done everything in my power to keep it maintained but now it is time for someone else to take over the responsibility.

Hope you had a great week.  Fall is right around the corner.  All the wolly worms I see are black-not a good winter forecast.  Scatter Kindness.
