Plymouth Area News for the week of December 10th, 2018 by Joyce Steiner

“Santa Claus is coming to town”.  Santa will be at the PCCC in Plymouth on Saturday, December 15th, at 10 am.  Each child, toddler-4th grade, will receive a gift.  There will also be juice and cookies for everyone.  The area will be set up for cameras so bring yours to capture memories.  Santa’s visit is sponsored by the Plymouth Old Settler’s Committee.

Don and Carolyn Ussery will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Christmas day.  Their address is 106 West Scott St, Plymouth, IL 62367.  Why not send them a card.  Sixty years is really something to celebrate.

Remember the Antique Store and Restaurant Run also on Saturday, December the 15th.  It will run from 10 am through 5 pm in Hancock County.  Each participating business will have specials.  In Plymouth please visit KD’s Coop and Plymouth Rock Antiques.  See the Hancock County Journal Pilot or the Lee and Hancock Shopper for more businesses on the “Run”.

Saw a really unusual sight today.  On the way to church saw one adolescent eagle eating road kill on the black top.  On the way back from church, there were five adolescent eagles and one mature eagle sitting in a perfect circle in the field next to the black top.  Looked like mom was explaining life to her youngsters.  Never even thought of stopping and taking a photo, which I will always regret.

Made three trips to Macomb this week.  Had to see the insurance agent, Walgreens and my doctor.  Gone are the days of an elderly male doctor in a white coat.  My young female doctor came in in a short black dress with black leggings.  A breath of fresh air!

Had a coupon on my phone for 60% off greeting cards which only lasted two days, so made a quick trip to Walgreens to make my cards.  The people there are always very helpful to someone who cannot figure out how to use their computer.  Always take in a photo and have cards made.  Found out several years ago that a card, a photo and a Christmas letter in one envelope requires a lot of postage so now combine the card and photo.

The Plymouth Village Board meeting was on Wednesday evening.  Plymouth still does not have a treasurer since the last one resigned.  If you are qualified and are interested in the job, let the Clerk, Phyllis Smith, know.

I noticed that Gene Kennedy, the male news anchor on Channel 10, was missing this week.  Since I could find nothing on the WGEM site, emailed them.  Chad Mahoney emailed back that Gene has left TV and that he had moved back to California to be closer to family.  Will miss him but the new anchor, Dylan Austin, is doing a great job.

We had five for Bible study on Thursday morning.  The study is called “While We Wait” and is lead by Pat Phelps.  Mimi Lawton sent treats.

Had a stoneware collector from Missouri in the store on Thursday.  Sold a couple of pieces of furniture on Friday and had a lot of people in the store on Saturday.  Thanks to all the shoppers at Plymouth Rock Antiques.

Attended my first Christmas party of the year today, Sunday.  Thanks to Kathy and Ray Goodell of Vermont for inviting me.  Good friends.

Hope you are getting ready for Christmas.  Glad that I have very little shopping to do.  Scatter Kindness.
